The Multi-Chain Credential Architecture
While our verification engine provides immediate cryptographic security off-chain, our platform architecture is built around the CertificateAdapter interface in lib/certificates/adapter.ts.
This abstraction decouples certificate issuance logic from underlying storage. When we activate on-chain minting, your credentials can be anchored directly to Bitcoin Layer 2 (Stacks SIP-009) or Ethereum Layer 2s (EVM ERC-721/ERC-1155) without modifying student data or breaking existing verification links.
Soulbound Tokens (Non-Transferable NFTs)
Academic credentials must reflect the individual who performed the work. Future on-chain certificates will be minted as Soulbound tokens: non-transferable credentials that are permanently bound to your Web3 wallet address and cannot be transferred, sold, or stolen.
